Privacy and analytics
One Life, Live measures how the website is used so we can learn which reflections genuinely help, and improve the site. We never sell data, show advertising or record your screen.
What we measure
- Pages visited, and which links and sections people use.
- How far a reflection is read, and whether “I'll take this step” is chosen.
- Whether a signup was attempted or completed (never your email address).
- The campaign or website that brought you here, and the type of device and browser.
We never collect anything you type, your email address or your location. Measurement uses PostHog, hosted in the EU, which processes it on our behalf.
Your choices
- This visit only (the default). Visits are counted anonymously for statistics. PostHog keeps a temporary identifier in your browser's session storage, which is deleted when you close the tab, so you are not recognised on a later visit.
- Remember this device (only if you choose it). PostHog stores an identifier in a cookie and local storage so we can understand when readers return. You can withdraw this at any time.
- Turn off analytics. PostHog is not loaded and nothing is sent. Your choice is remembered on this device.
Other information kept on your device
To work as you would expect, the site also remembers your privacy choice, whether you have closed the subscription prompt, and any step you choose with “I'll take this step”. These stay in your browser and are never sent to us.
Subscribing
If you subscribe, your email address goes directly to Beehiiv, the newsletter service, to send you the Weekly Reflection. You can unsubscribe from any email.
