Here's what I've learned about momentum.

It has almost nothing to do with talent. It has very little to do with timing. And it has absolutely nothing to do with waiting until everything feels right.

Momentum is about one thing.

Starting.

I say this as someone who has spent a lifetime being a perfectionist. Wanting more research. Better circumstances. The right moment. I know that waiting place intimately, the comfort of preparation, the safety of not yet, the quiet promise that tomorrow will be a better day to begin.

It won't be. It never is.

Here's the truth I keep coming back to:

Consistent action beats talent every single time. The person who shows up imperfectly, repeatedly, without waiting for perfect conditions, that person will always outpace the talented one who is still preparing to begin.

Progress is happiness. Not the destination. The movement toward it.

And here's the thing about fear. It doesn't go away before you start. It goes away because you start. Feel it. Do it anyway. That's the whole secret.

I genuinely believe we can have whatever we want in this one and precious life. Whatever we want. But the key, the only key that actually works, is action. Consistent, imperfect, courageous action taken now.

Not tomorrow. Not when it feels right. Not when you're ready.

Now.

Because now is all we have. I don't want to live in the past or dream of a future I'm not moving toward. A dream without action will always be exactly that. A dream. Still beautiful. Still out of reach.

So I'll ask you what I ask myself whenever I feel the pull of not yet:

When would NOW be a good time to get started?

The answer is always the same.

See, do and be whoever you want to be in this one and precious life.
